Captain Scott Owens has spent most of his life fishing the Florida and Georgia backwaters and bays. When he was old enough to ride his bike to the local tackle shop, Island Bait and Tackle he would hang around until they put him to work. He would cast net mullet to sell at the shop, make curly tail plastic baits, and dip shrimp. He spent every second at the shop he could and found himself being invited to go fish with some of the regulars. He knew then that he wanted to fish the rest of his life.

When he was 15 his family moved to St. Simons Island where he has continued to fish the backcountry and coastal waters. In 2002 he made his biggest move from a successful sales and marketing account executive to guiding and now he spends about everyday on the water fishing from Savannah Georgia down to St. Augustine Florida where he can be found poling the flats looking for redfish with his clients.

Tournament
Capt. Scott has donated his time for over 5 years to be a part of charity tournaments such as the Golden Isles Red-Trout Celebrity Classic and The Savannah Redbone Celebrity Shootout which help raise money to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. He and his clients have won numerous awards in both tournaments in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 including Team Grand Champions 4 out of 5 years in The Golden Isles Tournament and Team Grand Champions both years he has fished the Savannah Tournament in 2005 and 2006. He also is a professional redfish angler on the IFA, Oh Boy Oberto, and FLW tournament trails where he has several top 10 finishes under his belt. In 2007 he and clients took home the gold in the 1st annual Golden Isles SuperFly tournament ever held out of the Florida Keys.

He has been featured numerous times in the local news for his guiding achievements and has also been featured in national publications such as IGFA magazine, Shallow Water Angler, Florida Sportsman, Georgia Outdoor News, The Redbone Journal, Salt Water Sportsman and Grey’s Sporting Journal.

He also has written articles for Saltwater Sportsman, GON, The Redbone Journal, and continues to write to bring awareness to anglers on fishing habitat, techniques, and most important conservation.
